I do so love when I find a place that enjoys their customers, No make that enjoys their new friends. I have developed a real friendship with Anthony's Po-Boys and Sandwich on Westheimer over several months plus buying meals 2 to 3 days a week. At Thai Fusion I will have that same connection even sooner.

Why..
..you ask cautiously?

Well there is a cable that runs from your electrical supplier's transformer [(I CHECKED - IT AIN'T BUMBLE-BEE <- NO BULLETS) instead its CenterPoint)] to your home buried about two feet down that "should" last forever or at least a few more than 20 years. Well the house was built in the early 80's so it was time. It broke in a few places - ground shifted with our extreme drought, and melted in other places, along with evidence someone tied into the line BEFORE it got to the meter!

There are all sorts of sparking and pitting marks in the "circuit box" and evidence that the system was drawing way more current than either the "box" or the cables could deal with. The wires were Aluminum (Cheap!)

The result is we were only getting 120 V AC on one leg and 56 V AC on the other (OH SHIT!)

So I called a few places and got a few estimates. I settled on someone that was to show up TODAY (he did!). We are in a motel for the last few nights. They laid the new COPPER CABLE, not 3 separate cables in a PVC pipe over 4 feet down. Add to that new parts to the AC and my 60th birthday was rather expensive.

All of that to say we were going to be doing loads of eating out at several different places. Wouldn't it be great if we could find a place that makes what you want, with REAL food (unlike Intl House o' Pancakes), that was willing to stay open late enough for my Bodacious wife to join me. Yes- Orchid Thai Fusion does all that and so much more. I have learned that the chef was trained in France; that he has family members as co-workers; that he loves to "show-off" and otherwise explain many of his meals and that he so thoroughly loves to get to know ya.

For those that know the Pup (me), know that I talk ALOT, I talk LOUD and I jump from topic to topic. Its kinda like how I write posts!

The folks there love all of that and my knowledge of so many words to compliment their food - it is no effort at all to say only the best things about Orchid Thai Fusion - Try it and tell me what you find!

A Major Update

The previous Post was about my Brother and a phone conversation I had with him. What we have since learned - he was having a Heart Attack! No -Not a Stroke - a lengthy drawn-out heart attack. Oh, he has done several things over the last two months that will cause the researchers to rethink and REPUBLISH their Expert Findings.

First a bit of humor - when my brother was taken to Dad's someone at Dad's apartments recognized what my Brother was enduring. He was immediately taken to a nearby Emergency Clinic (& not the hospital emergency room - at least not yet!) When the Dr. at the clinic saw him, he called for an ambulance that often parks nearby to take him to SW. Memorial. Instead the ambulance tech decided and announced that they were taking him to Sugar Land Methodist. When the ambulance arrived at the hospital, my sister and family had already arrived, far outpacing the ambulance driver that had asked Sis if she could "keep up". My Sister's comment to the driver as they rushed my brother into ER, was simply "Slow Poke".

Now back to all the things that have gone Right! The Dr. @ the Hospital warned the Family (Sis & her brood, Dad, My Bodacious Wife and myself that my Brother would probably not survive the day - He Did! Then we were warned about the next day - of which he survived, but with several small "attacks" during the night - so again the Dr. presented us with the bad news that my Brother would not see tomorrow.
Well my Brother HAS survived and is doing Great. On more than one occasion, we have heard any of several doctors comment about their need to republish their most recent findings.

They had several nurses visit him at home for an 'extended recovery program' slated to take months. It has now been modified - he is expecting to finish this part of his recovery very soon (about a month after it began). He was told he would need a 'walker' for stability - yep - you guessed it, he only needs a cane and only on occasion!

Now my question - I wonder what God saved him for, when He could have taken my Brother is an almost painless, quiet manor!??

-*- My Brother Kenn has not been Sick a day in his last 45 + years until NOW... my Dad has an appointment for him mid-week but may take him to ER sooner... its PRAYER TIME.
When I called Kenn this Saturday Morning as I have for the last year, the voice that came on the line was a stranger... he spoke in small phrases - a word or two... 'going to Dad's'... 'go to the Dr.'... 'feels very, very weak'... 'is confused' - My prayer request is to lift the veil of confusion he feels. He knows the Scriptures; he knows their Author but he is unsure at this moment.

Update the following Monday
I have yet to hear of any test results - that should happen today, but the Drs' educated guess were that Kenn has severe blockage all round his heart, but they want him to stabalize so they can take Xrays, MRIs and such. The best medicine for him right now is Sleep. It is when he awakens thathe is very confused. His hands are iin restraints. a tube is shoved down his throat so he can breath.

-*- What I saw on the monitors next to him [on Saturday] was raggedy traces that is his heartbeat. It is the time after the first beat before the second beat that was all bumpy. Sort of like a child's swirvy, bumpy, curvy metalic slide, when that space of time should be more like a \ instead of ~

-*- Sunday evening before I left the traces were almost all \ Praise God!! I have yet to heaf from Sis as she was to go to hospitale early this morn. My Bodacious wife will head to hospital mid-morn. My boss has been told that I may need to make a trip there and possibly do my shift of simply sitting in the waiting room - waiting & praying when Sis and Bodacious Wife head to work.

For five whole days, AND NIGHTS (its the nights that get to ya) we didn't have a fence on the East side. So we had to be escorted whenever we needed to go outside. Now the fence is finally complete and we both get to run EVERYWHERE within the confines of our yard!

I am not sure of the company that serves us on Tuesdays and Thursdays but they will now have one less customer - da Pup.

There are all sorts of signs in the Special Deli area with each one declaring $1.00 for lemonade, Cookie (not Cookies); Fruit Salad; and oh yeah EXTRA SALAD DRESSING. They offer tall plastic dispencers of three dressings; Italian - both the good fattening and Diet kinds and Ranch. The problem is: if you either put some into a freely given plastic container or squirt some on to your salad - YOU GET CHARGED $0.50 for the effort.(that is what set this Pup OFF!)

People often complain how these folks charge $7 for a salad, while the other folks that serve us on Monday & Wednesday only charge $6

I just learned of a Special Lady in Humble, Texas who was diagnosed with Stage III Liver Cancer. [I was told that such cancers are often not diagnosed until that stage.] She says she never felt better in her life as she mentions starting the Chemo treatments soon. Her name is Phyllis.

I was off Friday with good reason. MY wife knew ahead of time as well as did my managers. I forgot to check with Butch and Charles.

Come Friday morning about 8 AM, I awoke to 2 dogs staring down at me & Charles was whimpering. When I got up and got dressed enough to see if there was a problem he calmed down, but gave me an awkward look when I came back into the house.

There is an order to things and I am NOT supposed to be home at that time, UNLESS we are either going to a Bark Park or going to play fetch (in the house)!!

I think I am going to take more breaks and the work will just need to fit in just as door locks slowly works their way into the door even after being precisely installed. Heck, just look at a lock that has had time to settle in. Well I am not giving my system enough time to settle into my work schedule. The result - two visits to the hospital in the same year. OUCH! Poor Puppy!
Part of the problem is getting to sleep - getting enough sleep. I had that about calling my boss this morning and saying I would be a few hours late, but that I would complete my workload. Recently, my workload had doubled. It was a full days work as it was -I do hope my bosses plan on giving me a CO-worker instead on just more mangers.

There has been a marked decrease in the number of sensible posts here due primarily to the fact that while I was out lounging about at a hospital receiving bunches of IV meds, the work was building up and my co-worker can only be a Miracle worker for so many days.
So I have been spending a bunch of time trying, repeat trying to catch up. Part of my problem is that while I am responsible for all the work getting done correctly and with some semblance of continuity, there are none the less THREE people that can complete the task at hand - WHEW!
Now I just need a better way of matching emails in order to know what is still Pending - OY!

that my friend is what almost happened to me. I walked into my bosses office to say "I feel sick and am heading home" but all I got out was "I feel si" then just mumbled. My boss called 911 and off to the hospital I went. Almost 2 weeks laterI was out, but still on antibiotics. The side effects were still there the first few days back @ work.
So I will let you know how Monday goes for the Pup.

My Bodacious One had developed a skin condition similar to what da_pup had done many, many, oh so many times before. And what do we see coming down the hall - I do not know her title, tho she does resemb an E------r B-----y and I cannot call the name of the equipment by name but every once in a while she lets us hear that familiar "W-hooshing" sound. The W-sound is Great to hear for it is whether or not that sound is the same everywhere she touches the skins - Dear Lord above, please let it all be the same.

Your question might be what happens if the sound differs? My Bodacious One get to visit the Hospital for a WEEK or TWO! And for Us, That Would be BAD!!!

I Know of THAT FOR WHICH I write! BTDT - 5 times in a town called H*n and once in a town called S--A*o I just remembered I got to "recover" from this TWICE in a town called C****s Didn't get a tshirt - just pain - and a vacation!

My, my, my, what they are teaching these kids these days. Oh it is not anything terrible, actually it is funny - with a capitol HUH?
The little booths were set up with the name of the store on top; i.e. Bobbi's Place; Boocher Shop (I was not sure if that one was selling nick knacks or steaks); Sell Merchant (someone has been paying too close of attention to what that pretty teacher said); and of course the Buy Merchant. To finish it off, where I expected to see the courthouse, there was the C.P.A.'s office.
A little snooping lead me to the CPA's accounting books. At the top of the columns were the slightly modified names of the businesses; "boocher account"; "buy account"; sell merchant account and the CPA AKKOUNT - you just have to love those Large Letters - not Caps - just LARGE.

I have two choices on TV about how I chose to learn more. I either watch 2.2 aka two point two THIS mostly for movies, Sea Hunt and Outer Limits and Any one the three Public Broadcasting Channels - eight point one, eight-point-two (the CREATE channel) and eight point three (espanol - I like Lazytown - in ANY language!!)
Oh there are a few other stations avaiable! two point one and on occassion three points one and two - but I will admit I do like checking out 49-point-two thru four ...ooops make that a three.

Several co-workers do not listen very well when after that have asked me several times about various weight loss methods, I repeat that I know only what my doctor has told, better yet, warned me about - alli weight loss.
It is our family physician that I write of, and he repeatedly said that such a weight loss program works by decreasing, hopefully slowly, what kinds of fat it will absorb. Hell, that almost as bad as my Gastric Bypass Surgery. I wonder how it does with eating too much candy. Me? I head down the hall within 48 hours of had having too much sweets or just a little too much fats.
So this might work - IF you keep in mind what you WILL lose!

I am very, very, very fortunate or as the latest craze says, I am blessed to have never had migraines. I have used my share of aspirin and for the last decade or two, acetaminophen. I have learned about what happens when you take too much acetaminophen, you liver starts to hurt - and THAT cannot be a good thing.
I have seen discussed (by whatever expert that TV show could afford; heard discuused by several different teachers at three different colleges and of course SEEN discussed on load of TV commercials.

I was not there. Hell I wasn't even in the country. But in 1972, I heard comments from men who were there, who lived and fought as they were told. Those who shot anything that moved; even committing "friendly fire". What the hell I am ranting about now. It is the "special" coming on my local PBS station tomorrow night - MY LAI.
From a Navy SEAL who was on patrol less than a mile OUTSIDE the village says his group received gunfire about an hour before the Americans got to the village. This from a village of UNARMED, poor, sweet farmers. OK then Where the Hell did the gunfire come from. I have never found reason to doubt anything Mike said about Viet Nam. A a 10 year Army vet who had just come from Viet Nam commented he saw loads of North Vietnamese in the area surrounding My Lai. The Americans did not fire at unarmed civilians. They fought an enemy that was set to destroy them. It is when I think about the false accusations made about the U.S. troops that I think about getting depression treatments.
It is a question of whether or not it is worth the effort and COST to create something that will convince the people that watched this "Special" that it was out to convince us that several if not most of the troops that entered My Lai were maniacs. I think we trained a few to be "KILLING MACHINES"; SENT THEM ON THIS PATROL; then got all upset when they did as they were warned might happen.

Personally I use Mc Afee antivirus software, but that is because it came with the laptop. I have renewed the license once or twice and probably will a few more times. Do I think it is better or worse than say Norton or Sunbelt, not from where I am standing?
Before I wrote this response to a friends questions, I checked out several web sites. Each claim to be the best, or have ratings that the others cannot compare to because either they do not in fact come close, or the criteria that each one uses is in terms that do really exist. Now wait a minute what on God's green earth did I mean by that? One site says that there is a special rating for virus programs - a test site that they use to prove their claims - strange how come Norton made no mention of such a site or I was not on the real Norton web site. I wonder what McAfee's site will claim they compare against. BRB
Okay, Mcafee compared itself with Symantec (Norton) and a company I have never heard of. Well that is something to be expected, now that I am aware of it. This is about like the latest scam with Diamond's 5 Cs - now there is another - Certified - well it starts with a capital C and that is all it has to do with diamonds. People are spending $5000 for a $500 diamond. (accoding to the Houston police)
What my friend (who thinks I know everything about computers - silly lady) asked was "Which Virus Protection program should she buy?" I think my answer will be based on what software is on her mothers computer. In other words, I am not seeing anything that sets one anti-virus company or program clearly and honestly better than another - They are all great. They all make similar claims! They can all do what they claim with room to spare!

I really do not like posting a bad eatery - but both the wife and I could not finish our mealsat "Los Faroles Mexican Restaurant." We ordered large beef fajitas for two. The meat was severely seasoned, the tomatoes had been frozen at some point and stored in a fridge - which KILLS any taste they might have had! The wife had tea, took just a sip and set the glass as far away as she could. BLEAH!

Oh well - live n learn - we were in hopes of finding somewhere close to the house. For me the best Mexican so far is a tie with one restaurant being on Memorial Drive, West of Wescott about 1/2 mile and the other being on State Hwy 6 @ Williams Trace. The 2nd is better priced but both have Fantastic food and a Funn attitude

Guess what? You could have been getting blood samples from your arm - all along. BUT you HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND that the blood sugar count in place NOT YOUR FINGERTIPS can and probably WILL BE 2 HOURS OLD.

In other words, if you eat that peach pie at noon and want to know what your blood sugar count is? TAKE THE SAMPLE FROM YOUR FINGERTIPS!! Otherwise THE BLOOD SUGAR NUMBER WON'T REFLECT the Real Conditions in your system.

This is not to say that you CANNOT take your less painful sample of blood from your Arni, leg or just below your stomach - YOU CAN - JUST record where it came from and be consistent about the time interval and location. The Dr. can still get his/her information needed to help you.

As for myself I would rather go back to a few places I have been to on vacation with my folks. This time it would be different. This time I would get to choose where I go and how long I stay there. Where would I go? What kind of list could I generate here and now? Well for starters I would love to go back to Mammoth Caverns for a week. Merrimack Island seems like a good place for a few days as I work may way to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and stop to visit every other lake for a day or two. It is really kind of sad to realize that desktop computers the times, the times, make that Ancient Times. I still own a desktop and my Bodacious wife uses it excessively. Myself, I use a laptop simply because it fits on the bed easier than a desktop. At work we all have our laptops to which we have conneted all of the desktop accessories, i.e. one-hundren-one key keyboard, a mouse hardwired to the laptop, two large monitors and for a few of us a printer. I have often wondered what would happen if I sowed diet pills. Of course I would sow one alone with one of each type of vegetable. Oh well its just a post - I mean what does it matter if I choose to discuss bodily functions or the cleansing thereof in such a family oriented, generally kind and often considerate place such as a garening blog. I guess I could liken it to what it takes to remove nematodes from your garden just as a colon cleanse would be to your digestive system - right? I wouldn't think that you would want to give your garden an enema - such a quick fix might not give you any control on where the chemicals go or which plants are affected. Or "yard man" has suggested that we just pull back the soil from here, then spray weed killer only here and not worry that the other plants in the area could possibly - in any possible way - be affected.
I am thinking that the best way to deal with nematodes is to shovel out all of the soil in the surrounding area loading it all into "thick" contractor bags say 3-4 mil thick. Set these bags in the sun to bake for a summer of Texas Warmth, then put the soil away from where they had done their damage last year and grow lettice, carrots and Marigolds.
Uh wha? - huh? You ask what is my point? I dunno - I never know - do you? Since we're into questions. Does this thing still have a spellchecker in it??

I have two, count 'em two wonderful friends who must have skipped every English class except the very first one and whatever it took to graduate. These gents can no more spell correctly than they can walk. The good news is that we rarely need to spell a word correctly in order to discuss it.

I can remember looking for cheap was of finding and paying for Halloween gifts. I wanted the small, plastic toys that cost a penny or two. Now a days they might have gone up to a dime or so. Or at least the suppliers want us to think this is so to be given away at a Halloween Party way back in my college years. I was directed to a row of companies just off Broadway, North of the Loop 410, in San Antonio, Texas. I was in cheap toy heaven. We bought more than we needed and came out of the last store with extra cash. That was oh so long ago, long before I knew about free online auctions. Help - I Need Help Just Finding The Help

I have needed help for all sorts of reasons. (Whoa what the hell did I just type?) I have needed help for my joint pains more often than other things. Even after I learned that I have the most common form of arthritis I still needed help. Knowing what causes the pain does not help much in lessening the pain, so I sought help. The help clinic I have gone to is more properly called "PT" for Physical Therapy. I use the facilities at Cy-Fair Hospital near Fallbrook Street and FM 1960.
I have also used help to lessen my suicidal thoughts. I have found a need for drug rehab but these pain meds "Could" lead me in that direction. (Whoa what the hell did I just type?)
Ok now for a taste of reality. My Bodacious wife, my brother and da Pup are playing AND Working on the web courtesy of A Great College less than ten miles from the house.
